Manipulation Fabric (2020) Textile art

A&D ANNUAL 2020

Kelsey Heo

‘Bioplastic Fashion Futures’ is a set of bioplastic fabric swatches that aims to provide an alternative to the use of traditional plastic in the fashion industry. This research explores the fashion industries ecological damage and contribution to climate change through their use of unsustainable products and resources. The project consists of material, process transposition where synthetic fibres are replaced with bioplastic and includes nine swatches, a look-book that illustrates fully constructed outfits and a large-scale fabric roll. Through this research project, Kelsey Heo launches a bioplastic fabric where bio-design presents a new solution to the disposal of textile waste in a life-sustaining way.
