A&D ANNUAL 2022

David Wilson

David Wilson’s practice explores the relationships of the mathematical and fine art worlds in order to reconsider structures in reality. Drawing from mathematical chaos theory, connections can be made from the order and disorder existing in contemporary society. Chaos is a quality that appears to be random but contains order and patterns. This behaviour of chaos within structures presents a tension between cultural understandings of chaos and well-defined mathematics. David uses cyanotype photography to create chemical reactions from the sun to form prints. This process enables serendipity to challenge the control and order of the images.
