A&D ANNUAL 2022
Emma Vey-Cox
Emma Vey-cox’s work engages with personal memories through ballpoint pen drawings on fabric and an artist book. Our pasts are tightly interlinked to our identities with memories stitching together an autobiographical narrative, however in the experience of Depersonalisation Derealisation Disorder this relationship is disrupted leaving the self to become distant and disjointed. Initially using multi-disciplinary research to inform a methodology founded in self-understanding and healing, the work engages with art-making through a process of reflecting, recording, and mapping of personal memories in an attempt to explore the past and re-establish an integrated self.
