A&D ANNUAL 2022

The light pollution of urban environments means that 80% of the world can no longer see stars clearly at night. 'Starlit Rainbows' encourages urban dwellers to reconnect to the stars in the night sky. The design symbolises the cosmos as a rainbow with the dispersion of white light through a prism. The rotating object is based on the technologies of spectrographic telescopes that record and analyse the properties of stars. The slow rotation of colours contrasted against a dark backdrop illustrates the passive process of stargazing. The rotating object is accompanied by two finger wearables and invites urban dwellers to reconnect to starlight.
