Olivia Spurling

Olivia Spurling’s practice is primarily centred in 3D modelling and animation. Through these disciplines, Olivia investigates how varying aspects and levels of detail can determine the audience’s engagement with a particular artwork. In her 3D animated short film 'Your Future In My Hands', she demonstrates how detail can be used to make a fictional space believable and immersive through the use of objects, wear and tear, and the organisation of the space. She explores the importance of world building by using small details to develop a narrative. In Olivia's 2D animation 'Memory', she illustrates how limiting detail in an artwork creates strong focal points and can be used to convey an emotion or feeling rather than a space.
