A&D ANNUAL 2020

Sarah Elyard

Sarah Elyard's work 'Connecting Threads' navigates the relationships between the artist and materials, expressed through the method of hand loom weaving. Using hand spun Ethiopian cotton gifted by Sarah's grandmotherly figure and recycling cotton fibres, material and rope naturally dyed with turmeric, Sarah materially explores her connections with rural Ethiopia and suburban Sydney. Sarah's practice focuses on the act of gathering, creating sustainably, and the relationships formed within those processes.
