A&D ANNUAL 2020
Larae Kale
Larae Kale's project expands on a playful and experimental approach to graphic design practice. The project examines the complex, multi-sensory experience of pain and the difficultly to distinguish and describe the different types of pain experiences with existing pain rate scales. The ‘Pain Mapping Tools’ are an updated design of identifying pain and intended to help chronic-pain patients visualise the distinctive features of pain for more informative conversations with their doctors and other medical practitioners. The updated ‘Pain Tools’ visualise pain through the pictorial design language of line and pain psychology to interpret a user’s pain experience in graphic form.
