Julia Sample

In her past work, Julia Sample has explored the figure within streetscapes, particularly looking at issues of social isolation in urban environments using processes such as photopolymer print and drawing. In more recent work in self-portraiture, there has been a search and self-exploration into ideas of identity and visual autobiography, looking for the inner and outer self, using multi-media including print, drawing, collage and paint. Her search is dependent on memory and narrative. It may not be accurate or true, but it is self-portraiture through her own mythology.
